DeniseM

Ms. McQuillen is THRILLED to be a part of the Kaleidoscope Academy staff. She has been with AASD since 2001, and began teaching 7th grade English Language Arts and Geography at KA in 2010. Prior to this chosen assignment, she was a library, media and technology specialist for the district, serving three years here at Roosevelt, including taking part in the planning of KA.

She has lived in the Appleton area since 1997, moving here from Kenosha County where she worked as both a part-time firefighter and full-time paramedic while raising her two daughters, who are now adults. She also has four exciting grandchildren (2 boys/2 girls) that were added to the mix and keep her busy.

When she is not enjoying her career here, she loves to travel, play golf, read, work out, and go to the cinema. During the 2013 summer, she had the opportunity to spend a month in Africa where she visited several schools in Burundi, as well as students and families in their homes. She then headed to Tanzania for some leisure tourism including an unbelievable safari and a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. She looks forward to sharing those and other personal travel experiences to the eastern hemisphere with her students.
