7th Grade Kaleidoscope Teams
Mr. Morois is extremely excited to be joining the Kaleidoscope Academy staff! He is new to AASD this year, but has taught the previous eight years in different districts. Having traditionally taught 8th grade algebra and pre-algebra, “Mr. Mo” is looking forward to the challenge of a new grade and additional curriculum, science!
Mr. Morois graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay in 2009 and joined the workforce the following school year, teaching 6th grade math and science in Stevens Point, WI. His next stop was teaching 8th grade math in Marinette, WI from 2010-2015. His previous two school years were spent in Sheboygan, WI, also teaching 8th grade math along with American History. Mr. Morois has also coached boys and girls basketball at multiple levels.
Originally from Peshtigo, WI, in his free time Mr. Morois enjoys the simpler things from small town life. He loves to golf, play basketball, and visit with his friends around a campfire. He is an avid baseball fan and is extremely passionate about his favorite sports team: the Chicago Cubs. He has relocated to Appleton to be closer to his fiance, Brooke.
Mrs. Xiong received her bachelor’s degree from DeVry University, Milwaukee, and then in 2013, completed her Master in Education from Alverno College. This is her 2nd year at Kaleidoscope Academy and her 6th year teaching. Mrs. Xiong has a passion for serving middle school students and instilling in them, 21st century skills that will take them to and through college and beyond. Before answering to the calling to become an educator, Mrs. Xiong worked in the business/finance field for several years. It is her background in the real-world work-force, that influences her to create applicable, critical-thinking , and purposeful learning for her students.
Ms. McQuillen is THRILLED to be a part of the Kaleidoscope Academy staff. She has been with AASD since 2001, and began teaching 7th grade English Language Arts and Geography at KA in 2010. Prior to this chosen assignment, she was a library, media and technology specialist for the district, serving three years here at Roosevelt, including taking part in the planning of KA.
She has lived in the Appleton area since 1997, moving here from Kenosha County where she worked as both a part-time firefighter and full-time paramedic while raising her two daughters, who are now adults. She also has four exciting grandchildren (2 boys/2 girls) that were added to the mix and keep her busy.
When she is not enjoying her career here, she loves to travel, play golf, read, work out, and go to the cinema. During the 2013 summer, she had the opportunity to spend a month in Africa where she visited several schools in Burundi, as well as students and families in their homes. She then headed to Tanzania for some leisure tourism including an unbelievable safari and a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. She looks forward to sharing those and other personal travel experiences to the eastern hemisphere with her students.
Mr. Olsen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he received his degree in Elementary Education (1-8). He began his career teaching summer school Math at Edison Elementary in Appleton for 3 summers. Mr. Olsen is teaching 7th grade Math and Science at Kaleidoscope Academy as part of Team Illuminate.
In his free time, Mr. Olsen enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with family and friends, and playing, coaching, and watching sports. Mr. Olsen has coached middle school basketball for multiple years where he is able to positively influence and motivate students and student athletes alike.
Mr. Schroeder is a 7th grade Math and Science teacher at Kaleidscope. 2014 will be Mr. Schroeder’s first year in the Appleton Area School District, but has 5 years of experience teaching 5th grade students in Orlando, Florida. The weather is beautiful in Florida, but it has been a dream of Mr. Schroeder’s to have his own classroom in Wisconsin. Mr. Schroeder attended UW-Whitewater, where he double majored in elementary/middle education and geography. He is a Fox Cities native, growing up in the shadow of Lambeau Field in Ashwaubenon.
In his free time, Mr. Schroeder loved going to the Florida Amusement Parks, training for half-marathons, golfing on prestige courses and going to the beaches. With the new move to Wisconsin, he is already enjoying being closer to family. He has enjoyed golfing and exercising in the cooler temperatures. He mostly enjoys going to the family cabin in Door County with his wife Aubrey and Gia, their Shih Tzu. Mr. Schroeder is very excited about the year ahead and is enthusiastic about working with a committed staff.
Mrs. Raisanen is ecstatic to be joining the team at Kaleidoscope Academy as a 7th grade Humanities teacher. She comes from the Pulaski School District where she taught 5th grade. Graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, Mrs. Raisanen is originally from De Pere. Since being married she has traded sides of the river and moved to West De Pere where she lives with her husband, daughter and mini golden doodle, Cooper.
In her free time Mrs. Raisanen loves reading and spending time with family. Recently her and her family have started collecting magnets of every state they visit and are hoping to collect all 50! She also enjoys spending time with friends, taking walks and bike rides and painting.
Mrs. Raisanen is looking forward to getting to know all of the students and families in Appleton.
Mrs McCormick is overjoyed to be teaching at Kaleidoscope Academy…again! She is passionate about meeting the needs of all students, building a safe and positive classroom community as well as assisting students in growing their knowledge, mindset, and skills to allow them to be successful in life.
Mrs. McCormick was born and raised in Appleton. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education (Grades 1-8) from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and her Master’s degree in Differentiated Instruction for At-Risk Learners from Marian University. Mrs. McCormick has worked at the middle level with students with special needs and spent the last five years as a 4th grade teacher in AASD. She spends most of her free time with her husband, Mike, son, Patrick and two labs, Molly and Emma. Mrs. McCormick loves to be outdoors, read and learn and experience new things.
