8th Grade Kaleidoscope Teams
Coming from the small town of Juneau, Wisconsin, Ms. Saugstad was thrilled to have a job opportunity in Appleton. A city with stop and go lights and a school that incorporated technology with fine arts was not something she had grown up with. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in English. Since the fall of 2012 she has had the challenge and pleasure of teaching U.S. History and English/Language Arts to talented and spontaneous 8th graders. Prior to Kaleidoscope, she spent her first year of teaching at Roosevelt Middle School. Ms. Saugstad feels fortunate to have some very compassionate and dedicated co-workers who challenge her to change my thinking and do her best in the classroom every day.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Saugstad likes to visit family and attend concerts with her younger brother. She comes from a family of teachers, including her father, grandfather, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. They joke that teaching must be “in the blood.” Aside from family time, she loves to teach herself new quilting techniques on her brand new sewing machine. New quilts show up in her classroom every now and then. Sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking are additional hobbies that keep Ms. Saugstad on her toes.
Mrs. Shadick like many of our excellent staff members is really excited to be teaching here at Kaleidoscope Academy! Since the fall of 2012, she has been instructing math and science at the 8th grade level. She believes the best part of her job is that she is able to grow and learn with the students that she works with each and every day. Assisting them in developing both 21st Century and life skills for what they are about to encounter in their near future and beyond is such an honor.
Mrs. Shadick was born and raised here in Appleton, Wisconsin and is happy to be back after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Mathematics. In her spare time she likes to cook/bake, relax with family and friends, and do all sorts of crafts around the house. She also enjoys spending quality time with her husband, son Leon, and their silver lab Nakoma.

Mrs. Kranzusch has been married to her husband since 2004 and had a son, Owen, in 2012. In her spare time, she likes to take photographs, scrapbook, sew, read, and spend time with family and friends.
